PROGRAMS
Farm to Firehouse brings farm-fresh produce and healthy meal ingredients directly to fire stations and first responder units. By partnering with local farmers and food producers, Food on the Stove delivers seasonal fruits, vegetables, and proteins straight to the firehouse kitchen. This program helps firefighters and first responders prepare nutritious meals during long shifts, reduces reliance on processed foods, and strengthens the connection between local agriculture and public safety. Farm to Firehouse ensures that those who protect our communities have access to the same fresh, high-quality foods that fuel healthier lives.
The Eat More Salad (EMS) initiative provides fresh, ready-to-eat salads and nutritious meals directly to EMS personnel while they wait at hospitals. EMS providers often face long hours without access to healthy food, relying instead on fast food or skipping meals altogether. To solve this, Food on the Stove not only delivers healthy options to crews but has also installed smart fridges at local hospitals stocked with fresh salads, protein packs, and beverages. These fridges ensure that EMS providers have 24/7 access to nutritious food right where they need it most, keeping them fueled, focused, and ready to serve our communities.
Food for Thought is a proactive approach to mental health awareness designed specifically for first responders. This holistic wellness cohort combines food-based community engagement with personal and professional development to strengthen resilience and support systems. Through guided discussions, peer support, and practical tools like mindful eating, journaling, and fitness strategies, participants gain greater mental health awareness, reduced emotional fatigue, and improved coping skills. By fostering stronger, healthier teams, the program ensures first responders feel valued, supported, and better prepared to serve their communities.
Seasoned Citizens connects first responders with the senior community outside of emergency calls, creating meaningful interactions that promote safety and support. While visiting seniors, first responders provide nutritious meals, check for safety hazards such as smoke detectors, monitor vital signs, and offer connection to resources that may be needed. This program strengthens community bonds, reduces isolation, and ensures that older adults receive the care and support they deserve, while fostering trust and connection between first responders and the communities they serve.
