OUR LEADERSHIP

JONATHAN TATE

Founder, Food on the Stove

Jonathan Tate, a DC Firefighter/EMT, founded Food on the Stove in 2017 to address the critical health challenges facing firefighters—a mission that has since expanded to support public safety professionals across the first responder community. Under his leadership, the organization has introduced impactful programs such as the Farm to Firehouse meal initiative, wellness-focused station renovations, and hands-on cooking and nutrition education. These efforts are designed to reduce cardiac risk, improve overall health, and promote long-term wellness for those who serve on the front lines.

Guided by the belief that food is fuel, Tate is transforming the culture of firehouses and public safety agencies alike by empowering first responders with practical tools and knowledge to make healthier choices—improving their lives, strengthening their performance, and supporting the communities they protect.
