Food on the Stove Partners w/ Bishop Walker School for Seed Tank Challenge

Food on the Stove is proud to partner with Bishop Walker School for Boys’ 5th Grade Urban Ecology class, an all-boys school in Ward 8, Washington, DC, for the SEED Tank Challenge by Green Our Planet!

These bright young scholars are growing fresh lettuce that will be used in our Eat More Salad (EMS) initiative, helping provide first responders with healthy, delicious salads to enjoy between calls.

We’re thrilled to share that Bishop Walker School has been selected as one of the Top 6 Finalists in the country, earning the chance to win the $5,000 grand prize!

Join us in cheering on these incredible students as they grow their knowledge, their community, and their impact!

We are happy to announce that the 5th-grade Urban Ecology students at Bishop Walker School took home FIRST PLACE! Their winning pitch at the Green Our Planet Seed Tank competition highlighted their hydroponics project and how innovative food systems can serve the community — in partnership with Food on the Stove . We are so proud of these young leaders and the joyful, hands-on learning happening every day at Bishop Walker School.

See their reaction to winning first place below.
